Where’s the party?
To balloon or not to balloon.
Second class of restorative yoga. The teacher tells us to breathe deeply and bring oxygen to every part of our body. Apparently, whenever there is pain in the body, and an examination is done after a biopic surgery, it always shows that there was a lack of oxygen in that particular part. If we would compare this body part to a balloon, the balloon had deflated.
So no oxygen means blockages and obstructions in the body. This will eventually lead to diseases, minor or major. A simple example: if I do not breathe well, because I’m stressed out, the lack of oxygen may form a knot in the neck muscle and thus decrease my mobility and flexibility.
Hence the importance of proper breathing, of relaxing, of exercising. It’s important to quickly break the vicious circles that we might otherwise develop. When we breath well, blood circulates better and will bring fresh air and oxygen to the body. It will make us feel whole and energetic again.
This insight does not only apply to the body.
In a way, it is true for our minds as well. If we don’t breathe and air our ideas, opinions and inner judgments from time to time, we may be clogging our mind eventually.
These blockages can become firmly rooted ‘between the ears’. Judgments and opinions we have about ourselves or the situation we find ourselves in, are often already developed in our childhood. ‘Our family does not do things like that’, ‘you always were like that’, ‘never do this again’. Not easy to change, these convictions often have become part of our hard-wire and are firmly -although unconsciously- rooted in our thinking-patterns.
By becoming aware of them, giving them a closer look, attention, ‘airing’ and ventilating them, it may become clear that these opinions have actually become outdated. That they are not serving you anymore, and become a part of you that you want to release and leave behind. And doing this, situations can start changing and are put in motion again. in your life. So you can become whole and energetic again.
What do we learn from this? In order to stay or to become healthy and energized, physically as well as mentally, we need to breathe and air our body as well as our mind.
Make sure your body and mind get fresh oxygen in time. Only then you will be able to take and occupy your rightful, individual space in this world. And in turn share the oxygen and energy of your being with the rest of the world. A coaching trajectory can be helpful in this process.
Make sure you’re not the deflated balloon, but be the one filled with air, fulfilled. Be the bright version that indicates where the party is.
